The vegetation of the Big Horn Mountains is typical of the Central Rocky Mountain region; a lower Juniperus osteosperma zone is followed by Pinus ponderosa, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Pinus contorta, and Picea engelmannii-Abies lasiocarpa zones.
