The banjo has already (in less than a month) been in and out of my car on half a dozen occasions. I didn't buy through amazon however, I picked up a used maple sierra from a pawn shop. While shopping I picked a number of other banjos, including some Morgan Monroes in the $1000 range and the Gold Tones up to the OB250+ and the Sierra was noticeably superior to all of them, to my ear. It is tremendous banjo, in quality, sound and it is beautiful with the satin antique brown finish! Mumford & Sons uses a Deering w/the Eagle ring (at least according to Deering's site), if that tells you anything. This was done by an experienced luthier who said the plating job was subpar. However I did absolutely love the feel and playability of the neck. Nothing rattles, though I got a little rattle initially from the tail piece but it went away when the humidity changed andhasn't come back. Honestly, I was really hesitant to even give Deerings a chance, since I have come to associate the company with their Goodtime series, and many of the Goodtimes I've played have been terribly setup and feel kinda like kiddy/ pony banjos to me.
